Growing!

Everything in the garden is growing so fast and so well!  I have never had a real vegetable garden before, so I was a bit worried that everything I planted would just die.  So far, that doesn't seem to be the case.
The first picture is from 3 weeks ago, the second from yesterday.
Peppers, with tomatoes behind them.
Peppers are growing slowly but surely

The tomatoes are getting big now!

Zucchini.  They all are growing nicely, and are starting to flower!

Beans.  I was worried about these for a while, but it's beginning to look like they might all survive.
This is the "volunteer" tomato plant.  I didn't plant it, and I'm assuming that a seed dropped last year and survived the rather mild winter we had.  Looking good though!

Garden Beginnings

I bought myself some tomato and basil plants, I have read that they are supposed to enhance flavors when planted together, so I'm giving that a try!
 This is a "Midwest Best"
"Sweet Baby Girl" cherry tomatoes.  This is an old picture, those green tomatoes have ripened and been eaten.

After I had these planted for a while, my dad surprised me with more vegetable plants!  They've taken quite the journey.  They were bought in Michigan, I picked them up in St.Louis and now they are planted in Nebraska.
Green peppers in the front, more tomatoes in the back
 Cilantro and Oregano
 Zucchini
 Onions
Pole beans ... and a weed!

Our Backyard

When we moved in, our backyard was super boring.  Of course, we moved in February before anything had grown yet.  We are glad that there have been some things grow, but we have needed to do some work of our own as well.
Roses
Japanese Lily's, and some kind of tree.

However, most of the yard is still boring.  This was our eastern fence line:
Now, this is our eastern fence line:

We planted four arborvitae trees, and a Japanese Maple in the back corner.

We also put a Maple in the front yard

It's going to be a long, slow process, but little by little the house is becoming a home we love!
